Hello Raiders!
I am your very proud principal and look forward to getting to know you as you spend two years with us in Raiderland.
In 1999, I graduated from Sam Houston State University and joined BISD as a bilingual teacher at Carver Early Childhood Center. I immediately fell in love with my students, our Bryan community, and our amazing school district. Since then, my husband's career led us through many moves and exposed me to a world of education within Rockwood Public Schools in St. Louis, MO, Cy-Fair ISD in Houston, and now back in Bryan ISD, where I have served our community as a Curriculum Specialist and TAP Master Teacher at Crockett Elementary, Assistant Principal at Milam Elementary, Principal of Fannin Elementary, and since 2019, the Principal of Rayburn.
I am married to Dr. Wade Ryberg, who is a Research Scientist at Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute (NRI) and studies all sorts of cool animals like reptiles and amphibians. I have three amazing children named Love, Leif, and Rue, who have all supported me and know and respect that when I talk about "my kids" there is a need to clarify if I'm talking about them or my students. Together, my family lives on a little farm in Bryan where we love on our fur babies: dogs, barn cats, tortoises, goats, chickens, and a sweet and spoiled donkey named Beatrix.
At Rayburn, I promise to always listen and work to help you achieve your highest goals for success. We have excellent teachers who work very hard to ensure we can deliver strong and relevant lessons that teach our state's TEKS/standards. We work closely with our district's administration to ensure information is readily available that will assist families in making informed decisions about their student's education, and we will always share ways for families to help their students at home, as well as how we ensure learning is happening at school. Safety and security is a top priority at Rayburn, so we will also share campus information through a weekly emailed newsletter where families can be in-the-know regarding all campus procedures, policies, and expectations. Plus, check out our Facebook page where we post all sorts of exciting news and pictures about our time at Rayburn!
Families are encouraged to reach out to teachers, office staff, or me, via email or by scheduling an appointment for a conference at their convenience. During business hours, our phone line at (979) 209-6600 is answered between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and we have a 24-business hour response expectation in place for any campus staff to respond to emailed communication.
If you have questions or need support, we welcome you to Rayburn and we will do our best to support you and get you the assistance you require.
At Rayburn, you'll often hear us say, "RISE Up," and to always be, "Raider Strong." Once you get here, we'll teach you what that means, and hopefully you will always feel confident in our belief to live by these mottos.
Thank You and Welcome to Rayburn!
RISE UP & Be Raider Strong - Mrs. Ryberg 💙💛
